Edits & The Featherstonehaughs
The Featherstonehaughs
Sat 9th October 2010
Choreography by Lea Anderson.
Edits is the highly anticipated new work by Lea Anderson for her six strong, all male dance company The Featherstonehaughs, the first since the acclaimed The Featherstonehaughs Draw on the Sketchbooks of Egon Schiele twelve years ago.
Using a drastic and compelling new way of creating movement material, Lea Anderson takes to extremes her translation of the conventions of film, photography and painting into dance.
EDITS draws on the peculiar elasticity of filmic time, the dramatic rhythm of film editing, the ability to heighten effect through extreme close up and while revealing the hidden rhythm achieved in film with the use of zooms, pans and tilts, creates a totally original live world of its own.
Featuring costumes by three time Oscar Winner Sandy Powell and an original score played live, EDITS is the perfect continuation of The Featherstonehaughs’ venture into new dance territory.
Ticket Prices: £10.00 (£8.00 Concessions)
Time: Performance Begins: 8pm
Age Restriction: For those aged 14 years and older.

Corpo-realities
Sankalpam Presents
Sat 6th November 2010
At the forefront of Bharata Natyam in the UK, the performing company Sankalpam celebrates both tradition and change.
For Corpo-realities, Sankalpam is working with artists from the fields of contemporary dance and theatre to create an intimate triple bill for five female dancers which pushes the boundaries of the Bharata Natyam form and celebrates its variety.
Amongst the commissioned artists are former Southbank Centre resident choreographer, Stephanie Schober, whose precise and sophisticated choreography exposes the performers’ desire to communicate with the viewer and others on stage, and Luca Silvestrini of Protein, whose translations of familiar life stories into surprising works of dance theatre contain both social commentary and humour.
For the third piece, Stella Uppal Subbiah, Co-Artistic Director of Sankalpam, has collaborated with theatre director Phillip Zarrilli on an encounter with the psycho-physical process of abhinaya (internal acting).
"sheer brilliance.....their discipline is awesome". The Stage
Corpo-realities is commissioned by The Brindley, is supported by Laban and the Green Room, and is funded by Arts Council England.
Ticket Prices: £10.00 Full Price (£8.00 Concessions)
